Ace Architects and their work have appeared in the widest range of publications, nationally and internationally, as well as on television, the Internet, and radio. In print, coverage has included newspapers (New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune); home and design magazines (Architectural Digest, Metropolitan Home, House Beautiful, Elle Decor); the professional press (Architectural Record, Interiors, Interior Design, Residential Architect, VM plus SD); books (Signature Architects of the San Francisco Bay Area, Hyperwest, Rancho Deluxe, Bay Area Houses, The Guide to Architecture in San Francisco and Northern California, San Francisco Houses After the Fire), as well as items in less august publications (California Monthly, The Magic Leaf, Constructor Magazine, Residential Concrete Magazine, Owl Magazine).
While almost all media coverage is positive, Ace has been grateful for the occasional controversy. In 1987, a low-cost, perhaps immodest makeover of a branch bank building in Berkeley raised a hullabaloo. The headline on future Pulitzer winner Allan Temko's criticism read "Architectural 'Folly' Tweaks Berkeley", a sub-head adding "Egghead Design with Wild Colors". SOM partner Nathaniel Owings is said to have remarked "I don't care what they say about me, as long as they spell my name right", though the comment is more often given to Talulah Bankead or P. T. Barnum. In any event, the late Mr. Temko spelled Ace's name right.
